| Women's Fitness Information
Women's fitness goals are pretty much the same as men's fitness goals. But women's fitness varies a little from men in that there are generally different end results women are looking for. Much of the general guidelines remain the same, however. Total men's fitness consists of aerobic exercise and strength training, as well as eating nutritionally healthy. So does total women's fitness. It goes without saying that aerobic exercise is important to both men and women, but strength training is important for women as well. Guys might be going for that bulky muscle look, but women are looking for muscle tone. It's pretty well known that muscle burns fat, but keeping your muscles toned can also reduce the problem of osteoperosis. ** It's important to note that the majority of women do not have enough testosterone in their bodies to get big and bulky. ** If I had a dime for every woman that has come into the gym and told me that they did not want to get big and bulky, I could retire! Most people do not understand that "getting big" or "getting bulky" takes a lot of time, specialized exercise, diet, commitment and genetics. It doesn't happen over night. Most women come in and "if" they are really committed to making a change in their health, will lose weight, tone up and gain some muscle. You will not get big & bulky, nor will you look like a bodybuilder! Which as I said takes a lot of specialization and commitment. So quit worrying and use those machines and free weights. You need them. Some reasons women's fitness is so important: Regular physical activity improves health in the following ways: Reduces the risk of dying from heart disease. Reduces the risk of developing diabetes. Helps to build and maintain healthy bones, muscles and joints. Helps to control weight, build lean muscle and reduce fat. Prevents or delays the development of high blood pressure. Helps reduce blood pressure in some adolescents with hypertension. Helps relieve stress & depression. I hear many people say, "I am just under too much stress to think about working out right now". Little do they realize that working out is one of the best things that you can do to relieve stress. 20 minutes out of your day is all it takes. You can find 20 minutes, can't you? Depression: Exercise releases special "feel good" endorphins and helps to relieve depression. If you can just get yourself up and moving, do anything, but hopefully come into the gym, you will feel so much better. The hardest part is getting there. Ever notice when you're feeling stressed out or depressed and you do get up and move around, maybe break a sweat...notice how much better you feel all of a sudden? That's those endorphins kicking in. Hope to see you in the gym |
