| Rick and Anna McClung of Yachats recently opened Village Nautilus in Yachats. This is the second fitness-oriented facility for the couple, who also own Big Bear's Gym in Newport. Combined, the McClungs have more than 37 years of experience in the fitness field.
Rick McClung, who has been around weights since he was 14 and holds a world record in the Masters age group with a 661-pound bench press, is a strong believer in health, nutrition and fitness. "We opened Village Nautilus to help bring health and fitness to Yachats and the area," Rick said, adding, "Personally in about a year and a half I've lost 90 pounds of unwanted fat." Village Nautilus is a private fitness club with 24-hour keyless entry and monitored surveillance, ocean view and shower. There is a wide array of Nautilus machines, selectorized and cardiovascular machines, and free weights. The McClungs also offer personal training and have enlisted friend Vicki Combest, owner of Vic's Power House, a fitness club in Florence, to bring her experience to the program. Combest, a personal trainer with certifications in fitness and senior fitness, taught aerobics for 12 years before she began her career of personal training and bodybuilding. Like McClung she is an outgoing health enthusiast. "I believe you have nothing to lose by starting a workout program," Combest said. "You increase bone density, lower blood pleasure and cholesterol, feel better, become more positive, have more energy and flexibility. You have everything to gain from staying fit at any age." The spacious club with three working areas has the latest machines but more importantly, it's run by friendly, helpful, people who are serious about health. Membership in Village Nautilus also entitles use of Big Bears Gym. To Contact Rick or Anna McClung call 961-3845 Vicki Combest can be reached at (541) 999-8558 or (541) 902-8634. |
